Power electronics

Power is where hardware projects most often fail: converters that run hot, chargers that fail EMC, batteries that do not last. Our engineering lead did doctoral research on high-efficiency power conversion for electric-vehicle charging. We design, measure and fix power stages for a living.

What we do in power

  • Converter and inverter design from specification to validated prototype.
  • Independent review of power designs before layout or before production.
  • Efficiency improvement with measured loss breakdown and before/after data.
  • Thermal design and verification with thermal imaging under real load.
  • EMC fixes for switching converters: layout, snubbers, filtering and switching strategy.
  • Modulation and control strategies for isolated bidirectional converters.

Why it matters who designs it

A power stage can work on the bench and still fail in the field: at high ambient temperature, at the edge of the input range, after a load dump, or with a component from a different batch. We design for the corners of the operating range and verify them with measurements, because that is where power electronics breaks.

Questions about power electronics

Do you design mains-powered and high-voltage products?

Yes, including isolated converters and chargers. Safety spacing, insulation and protection are designed to the relevant standard from the first schematic, and we plan certification with an accredited lab.

Can you improve the efficiency of an existing converter?

Yes. We measure the loss breakdown (switching, conduction, magnetics, gate drive), identify the dominant term and propose changes to components, layout, switching frequency or modulation, with measured before and after results.

Do you work with batteries?

Yes, with the small batteries used in portable and IoT products: one to four lithium-ion cells, charging, protection, fuel gauging and power paths. We do not design high-power, traction or high-voltage battery packs.
